The Company
- A law firm in downtown Toronto with about 40 computer users
- Computing technology is crucial to the firm's operations and service delivey
- The firm has no in-house computing expertise and relies on DSM for all IT service
- DSM has been providing full service and support for all IT functions for over 6 years
The Requirement
- The firm has been experiencing a series of network service issues
- Users are dropping off the network and loosing their connection
- Speed has been deeply effected and all users are complaining
The Challenges
- All initial testing and troubleshooting comes up without problems
- All advanced testing and investigation comes up without diagnosis of the problem
- Cause of this problem is like trying to find a needle in a haystack
The Solution
- Installed the DSM Monitoring System which interrogated and monitored servers, CPU and memory usage and other vital statistics to no avail
- Implemented the DSM Network Monitoring Module into the DSM Monitoring System and within 30 seconds - found and diagnosed the problem
The Results
- DSM Network Monitoring System shows that computers are infected with ARP based virus intrusions.
- Removed these workstations from the network environment and totally eliminated the problem
- These computers were not under management by DSM as they were an independent tenant of the law firm that has their own IT service company that let them get infected with these nasty virus intrusions.
- The firm has restricted this tenant from attaching to their network system unless their computers are under DSM's direct control.
